Glitz and Glamour

on Wednesday, November 27, 2013
Sunday night saw this year's South African Style Awards and I was looking forward to sharing a glass of bubbly or two with fellow bloggers and obviously some celeb spotting. The event did not disappoint.

It felt like all the gorgeous people of Johannesburg were all in one room. Some of my fave celebs were there and I managed to have a chat with some of them. Christina Storm has been an idol of mine since I was a teenager and she looked stunning in a Casper dress. Zuraida Jardine stood out in a flaming red dress by Gert-Johan Coetzee and I also had the pleasure to meet model Thando Hopa! Roxy Burger was stylish as per usual and Jena Dover looked amazing.

Christina Storm and I (eeeeek! I love her)

Stunning Roxy Burger

                                                        The stylish Jena Dover

The food and entertainment was spectacular and I met up with fellow bloggers Leigh and Hasmita, two really fun and amazing ladies. Together we had a great evening. After the champagne reception at Hyde Park Corner, we went upstairs to Tsogo Sun Hotel for dinner, entertainment and the awards ceremony.

The goodie bags also didn't disappoint. Every girl loves a fab goodie bag:)

This year the winners were:

The most stylish -  couple, Kerry McGregor and Neil McKenzie; male model - Masego Maponyane; female model - Thando Hopa; performing artist in music - Chiano Sky; performing artist in TV - Minnie Dlamnini; media personality - Simba Mhere.

A great night was had by all and I am looking forward to next year's awards already!

Back to the Future

on Sunday, November 24, 2013
Last night saw one of my besties enter her 30s and to celebrate she threw an 80s party.
Everyone made an effort and looked amazing, wigs and all! The music was a huge bonus too :)
It astounded me how easy it was to find an outfit. It seems eighties inspired fashion is back with a bang.

The Slogan T shirt

on Wednesday, November 20, 2013
I am undecided whether slogan t shirts are for the older me. I know that there's a debate whether anyone should ever be seen in one or not. I used to love slogan t shirts a couple of years ago and wore them ALL the time. Now that I'm a bit older, I don't know if anyone over 30 should be caught dead in them.

Here's a few that I recently saw:

                                                                  Mr Price

Sunglass Hut's VVIP Party

on Sunday, November 17, 2013
I was fortunate enough to attend the Sunglass Hut's VVIP Party last week. People who know me, knows that I am a sunglass slut. They are some of my prized accessories. My Michael Kors and Versace pairs are like my babies, which I also purchased from Sunglass Hut by the way.

The beautiful Bonang from Top Billing was our MC for the night and Georgia May Jagger, daughter of Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall, was the surprise guest and she is every bit as gorgeous and petite in real life. We managed to snag a picture with her :) - lucky us!

How gorgeous is she? Sam (right) and I wore Bvlgari sunnies, and Georgia                                       May, a pair of Prada sunnies

The night was a whack load of fun and they made sure that we were pleasantly surprised all through the evening. Champers and cocktails were flowing, interactive Vine videos were in the making all night long and Mafikizolo set the tone brilliantly with their performance.

We spent quite a while in the pop-up shop trying on different styles.

We were spoilt even further by the brand with a gift card. Now that is a great present! I went browsing a bit more in their shops yesterday to find my perfect pair. And yes, I did. I found a beautiful pair of Versace glasses, which clearly had my name written all over them.

I ended up buying these babies yesterday:

It was a fun event, with fun people.

This is how I felt all night

Thank you for an evening that will be difficult to forget.

White and more white, everywhere

on Wednesday, November 13, 2013
I have posted before that I do not like wearing white, at all. Well, it is time for me to eat my words. I have developed a little bit of an obsession with white dresses and I look great in them! I have about three white dresses hanging in my cupboard and I'm constantly craving to add some more.

I spotted so many on my weekly shop this weekend and I was a good girl and didn't buy any, but I can't guarantee that I won't go back and buy them all.

This obsession is a problem because where can I possibly wear all these dresses?

Zara seems to have a lot of white dresses at the moment. Maybe I should get my white dress now already for next year's Marie Claire White Party as I always battle to find a decent one at the time.

Here's some of the pretty dresses I saw today and they all begged to come home with me.

                                                                  Edgars

                                                                     Zara

                                                                      Zara

                                                                      Zara

Aren't they all gorgeous?

I will have Beyonce arms and Naomi Campbell legs

on Saturday, November 9, 2013
Summer is in full swing in sunny South Africa and that only means one thing. I realised that I am horribly unfit! I need to get my bum back into gym and get toned and fit. Beauty and fashion goes hand in hand with health and fitness for me and I have been very naughty by sitting on the couch all winter or having loads of dinners and drinks with friends instead of making some time to keep my fitness in check. Getting back on the treadmill and the bicycles also means that my head gets sorted and my stress levels are kept down. Winning for sure!

I sucked it up last weekend and re-activated my account with Virgin Active and got started straight away. My first session did not go well. I actually got nauseated and had to leave the gym. I knew I was unfit, but this is just ridiculous. This is what I looked like after my first session:

                                                                Not impressed

I have been for a few more sessions this week, including this morning, and I am much better, I no longer get nauseated and hopefully I'll be fit soon.

This is what I looked like after my session today:

                                                                 Getting there

Summer also brings with it loads of parties and events and I have three weeks to get toned and look fab for the SA Style Awards.

This is my mantra at the moment. "I will have Beyonce arms and Naomi Campbell legs". And then I see a piece of cheesecake or chocolate and I convince myself to just work out for a little longer. It may take me a few extra hours in the gym to reach my goal, but I will get there. And besides, I reward myself with a little jacuzzi  time afterwards.

Here's to a healthy and fit summer to all!

Havaianas FTW

on Wednesday, November 6, 2013
The great flip flop brand had a pop-up shop in Sandton City last week. That in itself was exciting news, but being able to customise your own flip flops was even more so! Summer is here and now I have the perfect accessory for those long, hot weekends. And guess what? No one has the same pair I do because I designed these. The man got a pair for himself too. In addition to choosing the colour of the sole and the straps, there were Swarovski encrusted trinkets to choose from to add for extra sparkle. I went with the four leaf clover.
