3D Printed Shoes

on Thursday, December 19, 2013
A friend of mine (a guy!) sent this video to me and I just have to share it with you.
This artist is designing and printing 3D shoes that's inspired by ex-girlfriends. How fab is THAT?

I can't wait for the day when I can design and print my own clothes and shoes! I know I'm not the only one.

Here's the video, enjoy :)

Mani and pedi - or sort of

on Saturday, December 7, 2013
One of my friends brought up the subject of chipped pedicures and how unsightly they are. How many times have you looked at a perfectly groomed woman and then you notice that badly pedicured feet? This goes for manicures too. It kind of makes me cringe. I am no angel when it comes to this, sometimes I just don't have the time to redo or have it done and sometimes I am so busy that I don't even notice. My quick fixes?

  • I wear closed shoes for that day and redo my pedicure that evening
  • A quick paint over the chipped manicured/pedicured nail until I can get it sorted - this is really bad! I know. I can feel you judging me

A chipped mani or pedi really does taint your overall look, so rather take it all off and have no nail polish. It looks better.

This is not my foot, just fyi

Like I say, I am a culprit when it comes to this too. To make your nail polish last longer, you need to do it right.
  • Start with a base coat
  • Two layers of your colour of choice
  • Finish it off with a top coat
  • Make sure that you use a good brand as the cheaper ones don't work as well as the others
  • And then patience. Something I know nothing of. It takes time for your polish to dry properly. Make sure you have time to do nothing for quite a while and viola! Gorgeous nails are yours :)

Dress your age, ladies!

on Thursday, December 5, 2013
I've been wanting to do a post about this for ages. I cannot stand it when women dress inappropriately.
There are a few things that bug me when it comes to fashion faux pas and two biggies are:

a) women who think that leggings/tights are trousers - THEY ARE NOT! This is an entire blog post on its own
b) Women who dress like they're 20 when they're actually 30

In our 20s we are young and we experiment. We can be forgiven for dressing badly because we're still finding ourselves and our style. Oh gosh, when I look at pictures of my varsity years, I cringe. But by my late 20s, I developed a style of my own. One thing that's very important to remember is that it's not proper to dress a decade younger than what you are and it's really not becoming - people laugh at these women, maybe not to their faces, but they do. I can guarantee that you will look 100% better, prettier and more gorgeous when you dress closer to your age and your body type.

Saggy, older boobs - not pretty

The golden rules when you hit 30:

  • It's boobs or legs - choose one - never both
  • Have classy cleavage - not a deep one - it's ugly, tacky and no one wants to see that. It also sends out the wrong message to everyone out there. Chances are that your lovely humps aren't as perky as what they used to be. Cover it up, and leave a little to the imagination. Have a more subtle cleavage. You will be respected more, trust me.
  • Skirts should not be very short anymore. The only time you can really get away with it is if it's winter and you wear tights/stockings with the short skirt. A good length for us 30-somethings are just above the knee or just below, depending on your body type. Please no "hooker" short skirts, make sure that your bum is covered, please. It's not lady-like.
                                                        Cover your bum ladies

I see women my age trying to dress like they are still at varsity all the time and it grinds me. Know yourself, know your style, know what works for you. If you have no clue, ask an honest friend for an opinion.

I would really like women to look like ladies again.

Pretty pretty nails

on Sunday, December 1, 2013
About a week ago, KFC spoilt me with some gorgeous nail polish and a voucher for a manicure. You are probably wondering what fast food and pretty nails have in common. So did I. They launched their new dessert called Kream Ball, which has everything to do with luxury and indulgence. It's brilliant. I got nail polish in white, red and brown, each representing the different flavours - creamy milky bar, berry and chocolate. It's just in time for the long and hot December.

Thank you KFC for spoiling me. We all know that a girl can't resist gorgeous nails :)
