I am a Si woman

on Wednesday, September 25, 2013
I received a little parcel a couple of weeks ago. All good things come in small packages, right? Right. It was the new fragrance by Giorgio Armani -  Si. I was super excited as we were told about it at a media briefing and the brand is iconic. How could I not be excited? Cate Blanchett is the face of this fragrance and Giorgio says that "Si is my tribute to modern femininity, an irresistible combination of grace, strength and independence of spirit." He created this for the modern woman. The word itself means "yes" in Italian, and he encourages us to say yes to strength, yes to dream, yes to freedom, yes to love and yes to ourselves. It sounds terribly romantic in Italian: Si alla forza, Si ai sogni, Si alla liberta, Si all'amore, Si a me stessa. I think those are pretty great mantras to live by.

Reading the press release I was drawn to this fragrance as it seemed as if I'm a Si woman. She is described as anything but ordinary, nothing about her is plain. She commits to and has a desire for frivolity and she has a thirst to live in freedom. Si, that's all me. She is free and knows how to make her vision of the world known. Si, that's me too.

The perfume itself combines three accords: blackcurrent nectar, modern chypre and light musky wood.

I've been wearing it for about a week now and was unconvinced whether the scent really was me. I was swayed by the fact that every single person complimented my perfume when I wore it. It definitely leaves an impression.

The fragrance was launched in September and you can get your hands on it at selected Edgars, Red Square, Stuttafords, Truworths, Woolworths and Foschini stores.

Moustaches everywhere :)

on Monday, September 16, 2013
I became obsessed with the "moustache" trend just over a year ago when it hit Europe. It's finally in SA and my obsession is worse than ever. To my delight, it's everywhere. Here's just a few of the lovely goodies and I will probably be unbearable during Movember.

Just me with a moustache. This pencil can be found at Typo (One of my fave shops, EVER)

I wear these buttons on my blazers (see the pic above, have one on there). I got these at Top Shop ages ago.

These earrings had my name written all over them. I got them at YDE.

How cute are these pj bottoms? Available at Cotton On

Just a little Monday inspiration! xoxo

Hope everyone has a great weekend. xoxo

Hello Spring!

on Thursday, September 12, 2013
It is super humid and the heat is staggering, all I want is the first rain of the season to wash away the allergies. Alas, we're waiting, but in the meantime I get to reorganise my cupboard. Winter clothes get shoved to the back and the lovely sun dresses, skirts and floaty tops are moved to the front. I can't wait to shed some layers. One of my fave accessories for Summer is of course the flip flop. I know that it is a taboo for some, but I can't live without mine. I found these at Mr Price and they have them in assorted colours. Go mad, buy a pair in every colour, they are lovely. So, good bye to pumps for now and hello to pedicures and sandals.  FYI, I got the pumps from Mr Price too.

Fall in love this Spring with Emma Watson and Lancôme

on Sunday, September 8, 2013
Emma Watson teamed up with Lancôme to create her first make up range and it has a definite Spring feel to it. I was spoilt by L'Oreal who sent me some of this new range to try out. Did you know that Emma was born in Paris? Nor did I. Being born in the city of love gives an even more romantic feel to the range. It is called 'In Love' and the colours are as soft, wispy and feminine as a warm Spring day. It reminds me of Spring days spent in my friends' gardens with cocktails and snacks in London, celebrating the arrival of long days and short nights. The light shades are a welcome break from the sombre and heavy colours of Winter. She attributes her inspiration to the "awakening of love in the Spring time". The range has me under its spell.

Here are my thoughts on the goodies that I received.
Ombre in Love (eye shadow)
"Sugar Rose" is the name of the game and it's a gorgeous, yet subtle shade of pink. It looks great once applied and stays put all day. I love this as my eye shadow tends to wear off as I go about my business. It's got my vote for durability! The packaging also gets a two thumbs up from me as it is stylish and I wouldn't mind whipping it out in public whilst doing a quick touch up. It comes in six shades, three shades of pastel for fairer skins - light pink, mauve and almond green, and three shades of hues for darker skins - rose petal, deep purple and leafy green.

Blush in Love (Blush)
This has the same gorgeous packaging as the eye shadow. Women love pretty things and Lancôme wins this battle. To add to this they have included a mirror which, wait for it, slides out of the case! How brilliant is that? It's available in two shades - Peche Joue-Joue and Pommetes d'Amour. It gives your cheeks that Spring time glow that you can only get from spending lovely long afternoons outdoors with your friends.

My fave: Baume in Love (lipstick)
I am a sucker for lipsticks, lip balms, glosses, well anything to do with lip products really. I was given the pink shade and was a bit disappointed initially. That was before I tried it. As I uncapped the lipstick I was a bit overwhelmed by the intensity of the shade. I would never wear "hot pink" lipstick but after trying it, I am an absolute fan. The lipsticks are all translucent shades (I was unaware of this at the time) and is described as "awakening lips' natural colour for a bitten-lip effect". I love it! Because it's a translucent lipstick, the intensity of the colour doesn't transfer onto your lips, instead a luscious shade develops and gives a bit of a sheen too. Again the lesson was learnt: never judge a book by it's cover. It's also super moisturising because it contains Shea Butter. #winning. There's nothing worse than a lipstick that dries out your stunning lips. The packaging is just as adorable as the rest of the range. It will definitely be a staple in Spring/Summer make up bag. It comes in four shades - fuchsia, coral, purple and pink.

The range is available at selected Edgars stores in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth and Windhoek as of tomorrow, 9 September 2013.

Thanks again to the lovelies at L'Oreal! I am an instant fan.

Boyfriend jeans, 'nough said

on Friday, September 6, 2013
Boyfriend jeans is an absolute fave of mine and I have been wearing mine for many years. It seems that fashion trends caught up with me and it's a staple for the Spring/Summer 2013 wardrobe. I am super excited as mine has been patiently waiting in the back of mine for a while. I actually forgot how great they are and they get a rest in the Winter. I am definitely considering buying another pair.

The great thing about these jeans is the fact that you can dress them up or down and they always look great. I prefer them with some strappy heels but they're also fab with pumps for a more casual look.

Go out and buy a pair or five! When I unearth mine I'll post some pics of them. I'm sure they're happy to be useful again.

Have a great Friday fellow fashionistas :)

I heart the tuxedo jacket

on Thursday, September 5, 2013
Today I am loving the tuxedo jacket. Okay, I've loved it for a lot longer than that. My mum added this gorgeous jacket to her wardrobe recently and I am super jealous. I love the jacket because even though it's still quite feminine it adds a bit of a masculine feel to any outfit. Proper power dressing :) And what girl doesn't want to feel powerful at times?

This beauty can be found at Forever New.

One of my faves

on Wednesday, September 4, 2013
I admit, I've been terribly lazy and it's a shame really. Now that Winter is basically over and we ease into Spring, I will post something I find gorgeous and inspiring every day.

Today's item is one of my fave accessories. It's very spiky and that was the attraction. I love to pair it with a simple outfit and it adds that little quirk to it. I got this beauty at YDE a while ago. I prefer silver jewellery, but it's also available in gold and is every bit as fab.
